About Us

Video Production seems a very natural course for which my professional life to take, amongst other things. From the earliest age I was fascinated by the production of television, which led quite naturally to an appreciation of film – both as a physical creative process and an art.

My appreciation of all things media, and the heady aspiration of a career in film, led me to leave school after my GCSEs and begin a two-year course in Media Studies.

The daily immersion in things like video production, film theory, radio production, journalism, photography and digital media fired my imagination and led me to continue my studies at University. Continuing, over three years, to develop my skills and knowledge of the culture of media, as well as production techniques and ideologies, served to cement my aspiration to work in this field. As I finished the course, further paths opened to me, and I found myself working regularly in an editorial capacity for a film music magazine. Four years on and I continue to tread the paths of both video production and film music journalism. Five Chollar Productions has given James and I the opportunity to put into practice everything we learned, doing so on our own terms and satisfying our creative needs.

As a Media graduate turned self-employed video maker, I have always wanted to be involved in the media in some way. In particular, film production.

In November 2004, I graduated with a degree in Cultural & Media Studies at the University of the West of England, Bristol. My time was well spent as it opened my eyes to look further afield and gain skills in photographic manipulation & production as well as making short documentary films.

There is something fundamental and exciting about visual art. There are many hundreds of things you can do with it. To influence, advertise, educate and entertain are but a few examples.

From a personal point of view I would love one day to be able to work on and direct my own fictional film. British film is making a come back in a huge way and I endeavor to be a part of the revolution!
